Another important state theater is the Residenztheater next to the opera house at Max-Joseph-Platz in the center of Munich. From the 18th century onwards, the theater had been at various locations in different buildings. After long construction works, the new Residenztheater was opened in 1951 at its present place. From then on, the theater has been the main stage of the Bavarian state theater. In 1988, the Residenztheater had to be reconstructed again for three years. |
